Mahesana pronunciation  is a city and a municipality in Mehsana district in the Indian state of Gujarat.

City

This is one of the largest city in North Gujarat followed by Patan and Palanpur. It is situated near Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. It houses the Dudhsagar Co-operative milk dairy and has one of the highest milk collections in India. It is also famous for its local "Mehsani" buffalo breed.

'Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited' has a very big establishment at Mehsana.
Also Euresia's First and India's Biggest Water Park ' Shanku's Water Park' is situated at Mehsana. It has the biggest iron and steel market in India.

Mehsana is home to an educational institution called Ganpat Vidhyanagar or, officially, Ganpat University. Disciplines within the university include engineering, pharmacy, management, higher computer studies, military school for girls, central board school.

Mehsana is now also slated to have airport the first privately-operated airport in Gujarat which will function as an air flight training centre of Ahmedabad Aviation and Aeronautics Ltd. The flight training centre, which has come up at an abandoned airport, has been developed by the Gujarat Government and AAA Ltd in an area spread over 64 acres and has cost Rs four crores. An agreement for this was signed by the two sides during `Vibrant Gujarat Investors Summit-2007'.

Other details

Modhera's Sun temple, which is around 20-30 km away from Mehsana, is over 900 years old and is a great example of India's temple architecture.

Swaminarayan Temple, located near Radhanpur Chokdi in Mehsana is a milestone for its extraordinary architecture and its design.

Thol Wildlife Sanctuary with an area of 7 km˛ is in this district is located near Ahmedabad. It is home to variety of wildfowl, flamingos, gray pelicans, black ibis and other wetland birds.

Wide-Angle Theatre in Nagalpur suburb is the first Multiplex theatre in Mehsana and is drawing the attention of all people residing in or around Mehsana.

People

First who come in mehsana are Prajapati(Kumbhar), and they setup Temple of Toranvani Mata, located in the middle of mehsana.

The Jats in Gujarat have come from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Some Patels and Chaudharys of Gujarat are Jats. They are settled mainly in Mehsana district and surrounding areas.

Shri Sarvajanik Kelvani Mandal is the largest chain of schools in North Gujarat. Shri Vardhaman Vidyalaya is the only school in North Gujarat teaching the three mediums: English, Gujarati and Hindi.

There are many Christian Churches at Mehsana.All most all denominations are having their churches at Mehsana.

The St.Thomas Christians having their church "Mar Greegorious Orthodox Syrian Church at Mehsana. St. Thomas who was the disciple of Lord Jesus Christ came to India and established many churches in India. The Mehsana church is very famous for "Miracles" to the devotees.

Prajapati Vadi is one of the popular spot for celebrating the valuable occasions like Wedding, Get-together, etc.
