Dahegam is located at

It has an average elevation of 73 metres
(239 feet).
Dahegam is a place of good, innocent people. As compared to other
towns of similar population Dahegam is less developed, main reason
being Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in close vicinity. These two big
cities have hampered the growth of Dahegam.
People of Dahegam go to Ahmedabad and
Gandhinagar for shopping, education and entertainment hence shopping
malls, good education institutes and multiplexes have not made a mark
in this town.
Beautiful places to visit are Nilkanth
Mahadev Mandir, Umiya Mataji Mandir, old Dahegam, Nehru crossroads,
and 2 man-made lakes one of which is now cleaned and renovated.
Standards of living and satisfaction
ratio is high and people enjoy living there. Nagar palika is quite
active and undertake lot of development activities.

Dahegam had a population of 38,083. Males constitute 52% of the
population and females 48%. Dahegam has an average literacy rate of
65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73%
and, female literacy is 58%. In Dahegam, 14% of the population is
under 6 years of age.
There is no particular caste which has
a clear cut majority in this town, this makes this town a place worth
living, the taluka has 65% Thakor community people but town has all
community people such as Dev Amin, Patels, Brahmins, SCs, Rabaris,
Shahs, Muslims and many other. There are two big statues in this town,
one of Babasaheb Ambedkar at Bus Depo and other Sardar Vallabhbhai
Patel at Nehru Cross Roads.
Lot of Kachhi Patels have migrated to
this place mostly doing farming, timber and other businesses. They
have mixed up well with the local community and have made this place
their hometown. |
